Laurence Maroney Trade-From New England Patriots to Denver Broncos
Laurence Maroney Trade-From New England Patriots to Denver Broncos – Laurence Maroney was surprised by the recent announcement that the Patriots have decided to trade him to the Denver Broncos after the running back failed to fulfil his potential promise.
Maroney was the number 1 draft pick for the Patriots in 2006, and after having his best year in 2007 with a career high 835 yards and six touchdowns, the following years for him were plagued by injuries.
While Maroney is saddened by the trade and didn’t see it coming, he is not bitter about the event, saying:
“You really can’t ever be good enough. It is what it is. It was just one of them situations, I had some great opportunities there. I felt like I had some good times running the ball, and some not so good times.”
“It was just one of those things. I got hurt. I could never really get going. But I loved playing there. But now I have to move on to Denver.”
In exchange for Maroney, the Patriots received a fourth-round pick in the 2011 draft and a sixth-rounder next year.
